digital products, such as the M-DVR4, use the MPEG
compression method ( in the case of the M-DVR4, the MPEG-2 compression
method is used). What exactly is MPEG?
MPEG stands for (Moving Picture Experts Group).
Unlike other digital compression methods such as JPEG or Wavelet which
were developed to compress still images, MPEG compression uses extremely
sophisticated algorithms to encode audio-visual information in a digitally
compressed format, resulting in much smaller file sizes than those created
using either the JPEG or the Wavelet methods. MPEG's multi-stream
capability allows you to compress numerous independent video channels
simultaneously (at lower frame rates) without breaking the important interframe dependencies for any of them.
The number of independent video channels compressed is determined by the
specific MPEG algorithm.
MPEG compression......
• Allows you to
capture large amounts of high quality video data that can be easily
stored, achieved or browsed.
•
Allows independent and precise control of each camera, smooth
expandability of a number of monitored channels, storage space, etc.
•
Makes possible quick and precise random access to the recorded video and
automatic logging.
•
Can be easily transmitted over existing network links to enable remote
video monitoring, data storage/retrieval and station management from one
or more computers running Windows 95/98/NT/2000™.
