VELTEK's M-DVR4, our 4 channel MPEG-2 standalone digital video recorder, has been instrumental in installations of 5 cameras or more. How can that be? A typical mini-mart / small retail environment / small business system is often designed to monitor physical facility security, i.e. watching entrances, parking lots, etc., while also recording cash register and inventory activity. While many of these installations can do so with a simple, but effective 4 camera solution, there are a wide variety of physical layouts that require more than 4 cameras. By assigning one or more M-DVR4's to the facility security cameras while assigning the other M-DVR4(s) to the cash register/inventory management, end-user owners/managers are able to closely control the monitoring, recording and storage of asset management while assigning the monitoring of facility security to clerks on the floor. Dividing asset management from physical security provides the owner/manager with a cost-effective and reasonably priced solution for protecting the physical plant as well as a means of asset activity which is best monitored by qualified personnel.
