VELTEK
cameras are unique because of their “Flickerless”
control. The Flickerless control is available on
VELTEK
Cameras either in the OSD (On-Screen Display and
Adjustment Menu) for Models
CVC2830D, CVC4150D, CVC3100, CVC2730D and
VELCAMS
CVC5240 and CVC5230 or as the fifth
dip switch on Models
CVC4160D, CVC2760D and
VELCAMS
CVC5220 and CVC5210.
If you ever watched the evening news when during the
broadcast they show a computer screen, you may recall that the computer
screen appears to pulsate, flicker and/or even roll. The main purpose of
Flickerless is to overcome this effect which is the harmonic power
frequency difference between the cycle of 50 Hz fluorescent lighting and
the vertical synchronization of the camera which causes the “flickering”
on a monitor. The 50 Hz power cycle of a fluorescent light causes a
“pulsating” image which is overcome by the Flickerless control.
When pointing a camera directly at a sodium,
fluorescent or mercury vapor light (or any other type of lighting with a
strong, wide and intense range of color), you will notice that the camera
will continually attempt to adjust to the high color temperature range of
the lighting. Most CCTV cameras have a hard time capturing the intense
color illumination because the camera cannot easily identify a frame of
reference of “correct” color, causing the camera to cycle continuously.
Because the lighting is too intense over the breadth of the color
spectrum, the picture will cycle through blues, yellows and reds.
VELTEK’s flickerless
control actually takes into account the cycling process of the light
sources and adjusts the color, gain, ESC and white tracking balance to
produce a correct color picture. This feature sets
VELTEK
apart from a crowded field of CCTV cameras where the
colors in the image are adjusted and therefore not true.
